A2B Support was founded in 2014 by Danielle and Samyr Leal, Rachel Hills and Laura Payne, who had a shared passion to support social projects in Brazil. Since inception, the vision has expanded and now the organisation has successfully supported projects in Brazil, Indonesia and locally in Geelong, Australia. All the supported projects are located in communities with large populations of people living in poverty and have minimal access to good safe food, education, employment, healthcare, housing, safety and social support.
People living in disadvantaged communities are exposed to horrible dangers due to crime, corruption and other social problems. They are often forced into labour at a very young age in order to be able to survive which exposes them to unthinkable dangers. Many are exposed to drug use, excessive alcoholism, begging, and gun violence, often becoming victims of underage prostitution and early school dropout.
During the pandemic in 2020-2021, A2B sent funds to provide emergency food relief to families accessing our supported projects. These already vulnerable families experienced serious devastation as they lost their incomes due to lockdowns and loss of tourism. A2B was able to provide the support that delivered vital care packages to 50-100 families each week.
A2B exists to raise awareness of these tragic situations and provide a mechanism for people living in Australia to support the most vulnerable with financial donations and by providing project governance support. With your continued support, we can continue this invaluable work of empowering communities and providing them with resources to enable them to facilitate change to create a brighter future.
A2B Believes the best way to break the cycle of poverty is to support projects designed by the community for the community.
Our Values
Our values are centred around social justice, and that all people, being made in the image of God, are of equal value and worth. Therefore, we are committed to working with poor people and communities, supporting them as they strive to meet their basic needs, overcome injustice and empower them to fulfil their potential.
What Drives Us
Our faith in God is central to why we do what we do. Following Jesus example to help those most in need and show unconditional love to all people, without discrimination. We believe that justice is at the heart of God:
“Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause.” – Isaiah 1:17
Working Together
We believe that it is the responsibility of all people to help those in need. We are extremely privileged to live in one of the world’s most resourced and safe countries. Drawing on these resources, together we can make a difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and around the world. If each person does a little, then collectively we can do a lot.
