Meninadanca

Meninadanca works with poor communities along Brazil’s longest and busiest highway, the BR-116, where prostitution is an accepted and common way of making money. For thousands of vulnerable girls, abuse and exploitation has tragically become a normal part of their passage through adolescence. At the time when A2B was supporting this project, the organisation had set up safe houses in two towns along the motorway and A2B provided financial support for the Pink House in Medina which works with around 60 girls, aged 10-17, living in situations of risk and vulnerability.

The Pink House’s team of educators and professionals identify and address needs and issues, helping the girls overcome their difficulties and past traumas, and resume a healthy development towards adulthood. Using dance, alongside other girl specific therapies, in a safe environment and a space just for them, the girls are encouraged to discover their inner beauty and potential, and face the future with confidence and without fear.
